Over the last two weeks, we've been working on warming up our reading brain by listening to stories, sharing stories, and looking for words we already know!
We've had some great guest readers in to share stories with us, and we've worked together as a class to read stories that are already familiar to us. We've especially loved when a story has a song we can sing along to!
We've also been looking at books on our own and learning about the stories from the pictures we see
Every week, we've been practicing SNAP words so we can read and write them independently! So far, we have learned a, on, and no. We also went on a Word Scavenger Hunt around our school and our classroom looking for words and we already know out to read! We learned labels are words that name an object, and we have lots of them around SMS and the giraffe class :)
We've also been sorting pictures based on what they have in common. Later this year, we'll get to sort words based on what they have in common too, so this is great practice for looking at similarities and differences!
