Fire Safety Day

On Wednesday, the Stratham Volunteer Fire Department visited the kindergarteners and first graders at SMS to teach us all about fire safety in our home and around our community. Here are some pictures from our day:

Outside, we got to check out the safety vehicles we have for our town and we got to learn about all the equipment they carry to help keep us safe.

In the cafeteria, we learned about how to stay safe near a fire. We learned all about how we can stop, drop, and roll if our clothing ever catches fire and we learned about staying low to the ground to get away from smoke. We also got to meet Sparky The Fire Dog!

In the classrooms, we got to hear a story about fire safety and we also got to see all the gear firefighters suit up with when they go out on a call. While they may look different with all their equipment on, there is no need to feel scared--a firefighter's #1 job is to make us safe!

Thank you to all the men and women who help to protect us and keep us safe, we had so much fun learning with you today!
