Reading Buddy Update

Since the start of the new year, we've been able to read and spread some cheer with our reading buddies. 

Last week, we made Valentines for Veterans with our 5D Buddies, which are going to be distributed by the Pease Greeters. It may seem a little bit early for Valentines, but we wanted to make sure our cards made it to the troops in time for Feb. 14th! 

This week, our buddies modeled some great fluent reading for us! 

Our buddies read us books from our book bins, making sure to use great reading voices and to change their voices along with the characters. After listening to our partners read, we read the same book to them and tried to model our fluent reader voices after theirs! Afterwards, our buddies gave us some compliments and advice on how to make our reading even better. 

We can't wait to see them for some Groundhog Day fun in February! 

Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service- Valentines for Veterans

On Tuesday, we celebrated the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service by making Valentines that will be delivered to soldiers via the Pease Greeters Care Packages. We wished them well and thanked them for serving and protecting our country. Some of us shared that we knew men and women who were currently serving or who had served!

While it is a bit early to be thinking about Valentine's Day, we wanted to make sure they got overseas in plenty of time with lots of love from the 2R Giraffes :)
