Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

In preparation for Earth Day next week, we have been having lots of discussions about what we can do to help the Earth we love so much. On Tuesday, we spent time thinking about the following questions:

How can you reduce waste?

How can you reuse waste?

What can you recycle? 

We traveled around in groups to brainstorm multiple answers to each of these questions and hung them up in our room to remind ourselves of what we can do to reduce, reuse, and recycle our waste! 

We can't wait to put these great ideas for maintaining the "Three R's" into practice, as we are already doing many of these things in our own classroom and even in our own homes! We can't wait to explore more ways to help our Earth as we get closer to Earth Day on April 22nd. 

Me On The Map

We have been learning a lot about our community and where it is. We read the book Me On The Map by Joan Sweeny. We talked about the character's spot on the map and compared it to our own. While the character lived in a different city and state as us, we both lived in the U.S.A. After discussing the book, we created our own spots on the map based on where we live.

We drew pictures of our houses and streets and we drew pictures to symbolize our town of Stratham, our state New Hampshire, our country The U.S.A, our continent of North America, and of our Planet Earth. We put all of these together to create our spots! 

Over the next few weeks, we will continue to explore our community and our country as well as learn a little bit about the other continents around the world. Everyone really enjoys learning about our state as well as the other 49 by using the app Stack The States. Check it out!
