Can't Stop The Seedling!

It was finally showtime for the Giraffes and the rest of the SMS second graders as we performed our brand-new second grade play "Can't Stop The Seedling! (written by Ms. Riley!)
On Tuesday morning, we had our Dress Rehearsal for our friends at SMS. Everyone did an amazing job and the other classes loved the show!

Finally, it was time for our final performance for our families on Wednesday. We couldn't wait to share all of our hard work with them! Here are a few photos from our night performance:

If you were not able to make it to the play, no worries! we were able to record it and you can watch it here (the play was filmed in three separate parts, but if you click here you can watch them all at once!)

These second graders were absolutely PHENOMENAL! Everyone worked so hard to remember their lines, dance moves, songs, and transitions, which was especially hard to do since we started from scratch! Aside from learning so much about ourselves as performers, we also learned a ton about plants, seeds, germination, photosynthesis, pollination, and the life cycle of a plant! Thank you to everyone for putting so much time and effort into making this play such a huge success :)

Enjoying The Outdoors

After our rainy weekend, we spent a lot of time outside this week so we could enjoy the sunshine. On Wednesday, we even took the series books we've been reading outside so we could do our independent reading out in the garden!

We saw lots of little critters outside, including inch worms, butterflies, ladybugs, and bumble bees, who were buzzing around and pollinating all of the flowers around the garden. We also got to see the purple lilacs growing by the picnic tables. We just learned that the purple lilac is our state flower and the ladybug is our state insect!

Our day may have been short, but it was certainly sweet :)
