Classroom Rules

On Wednesday, we brainstormed and came up with our list of classroom rules and expectations for the year. We talked about keeping our rules positive, and talked about what we should be doing to keep our classroom happy rather than what we should not be doing, 

• Respect others and their space
• Be responsible for your belongings as well as the belongings of others
• Respect our classroom
• Be a helpful friend
• Respect everyone’s words, listen to others
• Keep a positive attitude
• Be kind to everyone in our classroom--treat others as YOU would like to be treated!

Always try your VERY best!!!

We all agreed that this list of rules would be pretty easy to follow as long as we are being kind and respectful to everyone and everything in our classroom. They will make us all very happy giraffes! Ms. Riley will include a copy of these rules in the Curriculum Night folder so families could review them at home. We made a poster of our rules for our classroom that we all signed with some colorful hand prints :)

Hopes and Dreams for Second Grade

This week, we came up with our Hopes and Dreams for Second Grade. These hopes and dreams included improving our reading and writing skills as well as our math skills, learning about new things, getting better at our favorite sports, and everything in between! 

We will keep these Hopes and Dreams on display throughout the school year to remind us of all the things we'd like to accomplish this year!

Classroom Rules

This week, we sat down together as a class and came up with a set of rules and guidelines for making our classroom a fun, safe place to learn and grow. At first, our list of rules was HUGE (we could barely fit them all on one piece of chart paper!) but after going over our rules, we realized we used a lot of the word "no" in there. After discussing what we should do rather than what we shouldn't, we came up with a much simpler list of rules that everyone agreed would be pretty easy to follow:

• Take care of yourself and your belongings.
• Be respectful with your words and your body.
• Be respectful of other people’s words. Listen when a speaker is talking.
• Always try your very best.
• Respect our school and other people’s belongings
• Treat others the way YOU would like to be treated! 

These rules will make all of us happy giraffes!
