100 Days Smarter in K!

On Monday, we celebrated our

100th Day of Kindergarten!

After getting to go through our special 100th Day Tunnel, the giraffes enjoyed a day of fun with the number 100! We did the 100 second challenge, where the giraffes had to see how many times they could do different challenges in 100 seconds!

We had to see how many times we could write our names, say the ABCs, and do jumping jacks in 100 seconds!

It was a beautiful day outside, and we took advantage of the warmer temperatures to build some snowmen :)

After we came back to class, we joined the seals for a building challenge where we worked in small groups to build structures out of 100 marshmallows and 100 toothpicks!

We used all sorts of shapes in our structures--squares, triangles, and rectangles turned into pyramids, cubes, and prisms!

We continued to stretch our brains with 100-themed math menu choices during the rest of our week. We stamped, rolled, and filled tens frames all the way to 100!

All of the giraffes should be so proud of the growth they've made as learners and as friends in the last 100 days. It is hard to believe there are less than 80 days left in the school year, but there is much to look forward to in the months ahead!

Math Workshop

Mrs. DeLello has been visiting our classroom during our math time to help us set up Math Workshop! This week, we've started working in math centers that involve working with double tens frames, adding dominoes, playing math games such as Fishing for Ten and Name That Number, and looking at different addition and subtraction patterns.

Working in centers allow all of us to experience math at our just right level. We are so lucky to have Mrs. DeLello along with Mrs. Gorman to help us out and find new ways to learn different concepts. So far, we are loving the centers!
