Our last day of school before spring vacation ended was filled with excitement as we ventured outside to participate in Jump Rope for Heart along with the rest of SMS!
Even some teachers took turns jumping rope! We estimated how many times Ms. Riley could jump in a row without messing up. Our estimations ranged from 2-100, but Ms. Riley was able to get all the way to 67 before getting the rope caught in her hair!
After we were all jumped out, we got to have popsicles and play outside until it was time to head home. In addition to getting active and getting our own hearts pumping, our class alone raised over $600 for the American Heart Association. This money will fund critical research for heart disease as well as educational initiatives to inform others on how to keep their heart healthy! As a school, we raised nearly $5,000! Great job, Giraffes!
Update: It turns out one of the giraffes raised the most money out of all the students at SMS!!!! Amazing! She was awarded with an awesome playground ball. Other fundraising prizes will be handed out soon!
Thank you to all of the families and friends who donated and to those who came to cheer us on!
