We dove head-first into fairy tales this week to begin preparing for our fairy tale wax museum!

During Reader's Workshop, we've spent lots of time reading classic fairy tales, and then comparing them to their adaptations. As a class, we read the traditional tale of Cinderella, and worked with our reading partners to read and compare the original story to several adaptations.

After we read the adaptations of the tale, we created venn diagrams to compare and contrast them to the original!

We also began our new read-aloud
The Land of Stories:
The Wishing Spell by Chris Colfer. In the story, twins Conner and Alex Bailey fall into a storybook their grandmother gave them for their twelfth birthday, bringing them to a new world called The Land of Stories. Again, we worked together with our reading partners to bring each part of the map to life on our bulletin board!
We are so excited to be in the Land of Stories, and we cannot wait to read more about this amazing fairy tale adventure! Author
Chris Colfer is excited for us as well, and he loved seeing our map on
twitter!
