On Friday, we kicked off our Halloween celebrations with a Halloween Switch Day in second grade! The Giraffes traveled to all of the classrooms in grade two for some Halloween Fun :)
Our first stop was in the Owl Class where Mrs. Healey taught us a bit about bats and let us do some experimenting with some bat wings! We made all sorts of paper bats with different wing patterns to see which one would fly the furthest!
Afterwards, we headed to Ms. Donlon's Dragonfly Class to color some scary haunted houses and write some spooky stories! Many of us didn't want to stop writing!
We got to come back to the Giraffe Class for snack and afterwards, Ms. Riley introduced us to the Halloween Math Arcade! We had to use our place value skills at Pumpkin Chunkin' and Witch Toss, and we used our quick math fact skills to add together our scores at the Jack-O-Lantern Throw
Finally we got to go next door to Ms. Bucklin's Elephant Class to learn about the life cycle of a pumpkin. We found a lot of connections between pumpkins and apples!
