Global School Play Day

As you may have heard, our school is planning to celebrate Global School Play Day on Wednesday, February 6th. We feel strongly that students need to have opportunities to unplug and connect with their peers for extended unstructured play. There are almost 300,000 students across the world who are registered for this event, so we are not alone!

Students may bring in a toy (or set) from home. This needs to be a toy that your child is willing to share with others. We also recommend choosing something that is durable and not valuable, because sometimes things get broken.

Please use these lists as guidelines when helping your child decide what to bring. Your child always has the option to not bring anything at all! We have many games and activities already available at school.

Winter Wonderland

The giraffes have been busy over the last few weeks creating fun new art projects with our Friday Volunteers to celebrate the winter season! 

Last week, we "lit" up our classroom with our name lights and made some stained glass mittens to hang in our windows. We love how colorful and bright they make our room! 

This week, we made some snowman watercolor pictures, beaded snowflakes, shape houses, and winter moose!

We've really enjoyed having our Friday Center Volunteers helping us with all of these fun projects! We look forward to more fun in the weeks ahead

Spreading Good Fortune

During Safari Time this week, we learned how to make Fortune Tellers and then turned them into sweet spring chicks and bunnies

We hope our Fortune Tellers will spread some good fortune and cheer! 

A Parliament of Clay Owls!

On Tuesday, Mrs. Stringham came in to teach us how to use symmetry to create clay owls. First, she drew half of an owl design that we had to create a mirror image of in order to create the owl. Then, she showed us how to use clay to color our owls and bring them to life! We made designs in the clay to create the feathers and the beak and they are now perched proudly outside out classroom. 

Fun fact: A group of owls is called a parliament! How very regal! :)
