How to Be A Pirate in Seven Easy Songs

It was finally time for our big pirate debut as we put on our play How to Be A Pirate in Seven Easy Songs for SMS and for our families!

Even Fluffy was ready to perform!

On Wednesday, we performed our dress rehearsal for grades K-3 as well as our 5th grade reading buddies. They loved singing along!

We performed the song Shiver Me Timbers, and we performed Ahoy There and Party Me Hearty with all of the second graders

On Thursday, we came back to school around 6:00 to get ready and we performed our big production for our friends and family at 6:30 in the cafe!

All of the second grade classes did SUCH an amazing job singing their songs, reciting their lines, and dancing throughout the show! We are so proud of your fantastic performance!

Pirate Play Pals

While we've been working hard to prepare our lines, dances, and songs for our Pirate Play on June 1st and 2nd, we've also been preparing our hallway for our big production! We created a pirate scene complete with pirate hand pals and some Pirate Lingo along with 2H and 2A to sail the seas of our bulletin board. The Second Grade Scallywags are ready to set sail!

Our hallway's looking good so let's make haste!

Preparrrring for Our Play!

Hello, Families!

When we return from vacation, we will be very busy preparing for a very exciting end of the year! We will be working hard to prepare for our play How to Be A Pirate, which we will perform for families on Thursday, June 2nd at 6:30 pm. Students will be asked to wear a simple costume for our play: boys will wear black t-shirts and girls will wear white t-shirts, and everyone will wear jeans. Each classroom will also wear different colored bandanas (the giraffes will be sporting blue this year!) In order to pay for the bandanas, we will need $2 from each student by Friday, May 6th. Letters will be coming home on Monday regarding the bandana order, and we ask you to return the bottom of the letter to school with your child's name and their bandana money

We arrrrrrr so excited to begin practicing our songs and dances!

A Pirate's Journey Never Ends!

On Monday and Tuesday, we got to perform our play How to Be a Pirate in Seven Easy Songs for our classmates, families, and friends! Both shows went swimmingly and everyone loved our performance.

Our first performance was a dress rehearsal that we performed during the school day. Some of our audience were in the play when they were in second grade, so they were able to sing along!

On Tuesday night, we performed for our friends and  family. We had such a wonderful audience cheering us on!

If you were not able to make it to the show, please enjoy this clip of us singing our song "Hoist The Sails"

We dedicated our show to Mrs. Leonard and Mrs. Caporello, who have been sailing the education seas for quite some time and are putting down their anchors at the end of this school year. Thank you for your dedication, ladies!

When we finished our final performance, we took Fluffy around the classroom for a victory lap :) We had a blast putting on such an amazing show, and we are so thankful for everyone who supported us by helping us get our "pirate gear" and listening to us practice our songs.

Although the show is over, we know a pirate's journey never ends!
