Pirate Play Pals

While we've been working hard to prepare our lines, dances, and songs for our Pirate Play on June 1st and 2nd, we've also been preparing our hallway for our big production! We created a pirate scene complete with pirate hand pals and some Pirate Lingo along with 2H and 2A to sail the seas of our bulletin board. The Second Grade Scallywags are ready to set sail!

Our hallway's looking good so let's make haste!

A Pirate's Journey Never Ends!

On Monday and Tuesday, we got to perform our play How to Be a Pirate in Seven Easy Songs for our classmates, families, and friends! Both shows went swimmingly and everyone loved our performance.

Our first performance was a dress rehearsal that we performed during the school day. Some of our audience were in the play when they were in second grade, so they were able to sing along!

On Tuesday night, we performed for our friends and  family. We had such a wonderful audience cheering us on!

If you were not able to make it to the show, please enjoy this clip of us singing our song "Hoist The Sails"

We dedicated our show to Mrs. Leonard and Mrs. Caporello, who have been sailing the education seas for quite some time and are putting down their anchors at the end of this school year. Thank you for your dedication, ladies!

When we finished our final performance, we took Fluffy around the classroom for a victory lap :) We had a blast putting on such an amazing show, and we are so thankful for everyone who supported us by helping us get our "pirate gear" and listening to us practice our songs.

Although the show is over, we know a pirate's journey never ends!

Heave Ho, Here we go!

Ahoy, Families!

The time has finally come to perform our Pirate Play! We will be having our dress rehearsal on Monday during the school day for SMS students and our big performance Tuesday night at 6:30 pm for friends and family. Anyone who would like to come is more than welcome!

Students should bring or wear their costumes to school on Monday for our dress rehearsal. Just as a reminder, the boys are wearing black shirts and the girls are wearing white shirts and everyone is to wear blue jean pants or shorts. If the shirts have any designs or writing on them, that is totally fine! We have our bandanas and eye patches here, so we will put them on when it is time to perform and students can take them home once the play is over :)

Students should come to our classroom before the play on Tuesday at 6:15 pm to get ready and line up in concert order. The play is about 35-40 minutes long. We are going to be the last group to perform our lines and our class song and the whole second grade will perform two more songs before the play is over. We will have students exit the cafe and return to our classroom to be picked up so we can make sure everyone is accounted for. If you are facing the stage, we will be seated on the right side of the stage for most of the performance, so if you are looking for a good seat, the right/center would be the place to go!

Please let us know if you have any questions. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, it is hard to believe we only have two more weeks left!

Ahoy There!

Arrrrrg! We have had so much fun preparing for our upcoming play How to Be a Pirate in Seven Easy Songs. While we've been able to get together with the other second grade classrooms on the stage for some full rehearsals, we've also been working hard to prepare within our classroom. Mrs. Chartier told us that we've been doing an awesome job practicing, she was so impressed by our song and our actors and actresses!

This week, Mrs. Pitcher helped us make some awesome pirates using our hands to put on our shared bulletin board. They look great climbing up  to the crow's nest on our ship and searching for treasure on our island!

Our bandanas for the play also came in this week, so we got to try them on for our rehearsal on Friday! Ms. Riley also ordered some more accessories for us to adorn, but those will be a surprise :)

Our play will take place on Tuesday, June 9th at 6:30 pm for our friends and family. We will have a dress rehearsal the day before on June 8th, so if everyone could bring their costumes to school that day, it would be very much appreciated! Just as a reminder, our costumes will consist of jeans with a black t-shirt for boys and a white t-shirt for girls
