Gobble Gobble!

We kicked off our classroom Thanksgiving celebrations with our Disguised Turkey project! Here are the disguised we created with our families this year:

Turkeys?! No turkeys here.... :)

In math, we continued our work with Place Value and 3-digit numbers with our Number Turkeys!

After our trip to Strawbery Banke, we've also continued to learn about the Pilgrims and Wampanoags and reflect on our own Thanksgiving Traditions. We read lots of books and articles about them and then we created some Thanksgiving Menus to share the facts we've learned with our families and celebrate the traditions we have with our families in present day!

On Tuesday Afternoon, we got together with our 4B Reading Buddies to make Tin Foil Boats! We learned The Mayflower carried 102 passengers, so aside from just floating, our boats also had to carry 102 pennies in the water! We were only allowed to use one piece of foil, and we had 10 minutes to create our vessels

After the 10 minutes was up, we each tested our ships on the open seas!

Although some designs were not successful, we still had a lot of fun together!

Giraffes, I am so thankful to be your teacher. I am grateful to have a job that allows me to come to school each and every day to learn, laugh, and grow with you. Every one of your hugs, pictures, kind notes, and sweet comments mean so much to me. I am so proud of the growth you've made so far in second grade, and I cannot wait to see where the rest of the year takes us. Enjoy spending time with your friends and family, and don't let any actual giraffes crash your dinner!

Happy Thanksgiving!
