Guest Readers

Hello, Giraffe Families!

We will begin having weekly Guest Readers in the Giraffe Class. As a guest reader, you can bring in 1-2 picture books to share with the class and help us grow our reading brains! All family and friends are welcome :) If you are interested, please sign up for one of the dates listed on our Sign Up Genius. If the dates/times listed do not work for you, please reach out to me and we can arrange another time for you to come in.

We will also begin having Center Volunteers every Friday. As a volunteer, you would be helping the giraffes with either a math/literacy game or a craft activity. All friends and family are welcome to come in to volunteer. If you would like to sign up for one of our available slots, please click here! If the dates/times listed on our Sign Up Genius do not work for you but you would still like to join us, please feel free to reach out so we can figure out a time that does :) Thank you for your support!

Scholastic Book Clubs

Hello, Giraffe Families!

I wanted to let you know that this year, we will be using online orders for the Scholastic Book Clubs. Not only will it save us from using paper for the paper catalogs, but it will also give you lots more variety and selection in the books that are available to order. For every book that you order for your child at home, our class receives bonus points that we can then use to purchase new books for our classroom! Here is how to order:

  1. Go to the Scholastic Book Clubs site and click on "Add a Child"
  2. Enter your child's name, grade, and then enter our classroom code NB42C to connect to the Giraffe Class.
  3. Once you confirm the information, it will bring you to the Book Clubs. Here, you can shop by grade level, by collection, or you can shop the digital flyers. You can also search for specific titles or use the "Book Finder" feature to help you find just right books for your child.

I will submit any orders we receive as a class once a month, but if there is an order you have placed that you would like delivered ASAP, please let me know so I can submit it for you. All orders will be delivered to school and sent home in your child's backpack on the day we receive them.

I will plan to submit our first order on Friday, November 2nd to ensure they are delivered before our Thanksgiving break. Please let me know if you have any questions. Happy Reading!

I Now Pronounce You Mrs. Mitchell!

This summer, Ms. Riley has not only been getting ready to teach a new grade level, but she's also been getting ready for a new name! On August 4th, Ms. Riley got married at Hartman's Herb Farm in Barre, MA and officially became Mrs. Mitchell! What was a rainy morning turned into a miraculously sunny afternoon, and we had a beautiful ceremony out in the garden followed by dinner and dancing by the barn. Here are a few pictures from our special day:

Ms. Riley's last class of 2R Giraffes gave some love advice, so we typed it up a few of their words of wisdom to share with our guests during dinner!
We also shared the amazing wedding planner they made! Mrs. Mitchell was so happy to have this special gift to share with their guests and to have her students become part of their special day--they even got a few shoutouts during the ceremony :)

Thank You Mrs. Dow for your amazing chalk illustrations for our welcome sign!

We were married on a farm, so there were lots of bunnies, goats, pigs, sheep, and chickens all around the property!

All of our siblings were in our wedding party!

Mrs. Mitchell made their cake topper herself and her cousin Liz made their delicious cake and cupcakes!

Mrs. Mitchell's own 4th grade teacher Mrs. Paul was there to celebrate!

Here's to our very own Happily Ever After!
